Showcase your passions at Squidoo. The site, founded by Seth Godin, has been making waves for some time now.

Users are able to create their own lenses, which are pages dedicated to one person’s POV on any given topic. If you’re into philosophy for instance, you could create a lense all about Hegel. Emphasis is placed on providing additional resources—links—and recommendations on the subject. A lense on ‘living in Italy’ for example, aggregates blog links, newspapers, and expat group info into one centralized source of info. Lensmasters, those who submit lenses, can earn royalty from their lenses. Five percent automatically goes to charity and fifty percent goes to lensmaster. Of course you can choose to donate your cut to charity too. Squidoo makes searching the web much easier.

Squidoo’s got a great hold on crowdsourcing. Lensmasters share their knowledge on anything, without having to do major upkeep as with a blog, and they get some profit out of it. Finding information is a lot easier with Squidoo, because unlike search engine results, Squidoo lenses are personal recommendations.

Better categorization of topics, for easier navigation could be implemented. Also Squidoo is apparently a ripe target for spam. Pages are being removed from Google, which is definitely going to result in a plunge in traffic. What will Squidoo do to rectify this?
