Soup.io - Post Anything Without Registration

    soup

Soup is a fun new website that lets you post literally any kind of content you want; text, images, videos, links, quotes...the list goes on and on. The idea behind Soup is to have a registration-free service that lets its users create personal pages that aren't splattered with advertisements or blatantly made to look as though they belong to an external party (think: Facebook or MySpace profiles). Instead, your Soup "scrapbook" consists of your postings (you can create them on-site or import from a variety of other content-based websites like del.icio.us, YouTube, or twitter). To post something, just select what type of content it is from the menu, and Soup will open up a template catered exactly to what you want to want to post (for example, the "Quote" option has one larger text box for the quote, and a one-line one for its author). Soup will even help you get your own domain name, making your page truly yours in every sense. You can also check out what others have posted and add friends, just like any other social network.

    In their own words

"The easiest way ever to publish, collect, and share what you're creating, thinking about, or discovering online".

Why it might be a killer

Soup has some cool features that differentiate it from other user-generated content websites; for instance, the templates automatically choose a layout that suits the type of content you're posting. It's also super convenient that you can upload your preexisting content from another website in just one easy step.

    Some questions

While it may seem convenient that you don't have to register for Soup, it also detracts from some personalization options that you might be afforded on other similar websites that require a sign-up. For instance, you can't truly create a personal profile; there's no picture profile upload option, place to enter in personal information, or way to add contacts. Does Soup plan on adding in these features, and/or some more social networking elements?
