pimpampum.net/phrasr - Pictures to Match Your Words

    pimpampum

They say a picture is worth 1,000 words. But where do you find that picture? Look no further than Phrasr, a website to help you illustrate your words with Flickr images. Enter any string of words, and Phrasr will match each word with a picture from Flickr’s extensive catalog. Not happy with Phrasr’s first suggestion? You can change the photo to one of 50+ options that the program will offer for each word. The end result is a photo slideshow captioned by your original words, and the title and name that you entered will appear at the end. You can email your creation to yourself or a friend, go back and edit your photo selection, or view the archive to see what other users have created. You can also click on any of the photos in your final message and Phrasr will direct your browser to the original Flickr page from which it pulled the image.

It is not clear whether there is a cap on how many words you may enter, but I was able to create a slideshow with over 50 words, so if there is a limit, it must be fairly high.

    In their own words

How does it work…? Write anything you want and we will find images that match it. You will be able to change every image in the next step… or visit the archive. Choose the images you like most and when everything is okay press PUBLISH! You must enter a Title and name in order to identify your work.

Why it might be a killer

The ever-growing popularity of Flickr gives this site a large and expanding market of possible users to tap, as well as an increasing database of images to offer. Phrasr is fun, and creating personalized slideshows could catch on as a substitute for e-cards or just a unique way to send short messages. You do not need to have a Flickr account or sign up for anything to use Phrasr.

    Some questions

Could they add a feature that allows the incorporation of sound into to your slideshow message? Or a way to import your own image if you don’t like any of the image suggestions offered by Phrasr?
