OnMyList.com - List Your Pants Off

Do you know your top 10 George Carlin quotes? Or how about your top 10 web sites? OnMyList allows you to create lists (rants?) about anything and everything you want. The lists are categorized and indexed, and users get to rate those they like best. They also tell you how many times a list has been viewed. The highest rated and most popular lists get prime location on the home page, as do the most popular creators of lists. I wasn"t too impressed with the lists that I saw, as they seemed half-hearted and silly, but I have learned not to underestimate the power of tools like this. These kind of list-making and other personality-sharing services are popular on social networking profiles. But, in reality, I didn"t see a link to allow a user to quickly add these lists to their MySpace or Facebook (or whatever other popular networking sites people are flocking to these days) sites. I saw a way to link to a blog and to email to friends/family, but that is different than linking to MySpace, from what I understand. Overall, the site was well designed but lacking innovation or originality.

Tools that allow users to create, share and publish information about themselves and their opinions is all the rage. This site has the potential to become popular with the blogging and social networking field, if the site creates better linkage with some of the popular networking locations. They did seem to have a few sponsors, though, in addition to the usual Google Ads.

Why can"t you easily add these lists to MySpace or Facebook? Are they considering allowing listmakers to add video, photos or other multimedia sources? What about creating a partnership with some of the social networking sites in the US and all over the world to create more interest and use of the site? Finally, I will continue to harp on the lack of professional writing in the "about us" sections of sites like this (I realize they are catering to a younger crowd, but why limit yourself and why use slang?)
