Neighbor.com - Get advice from locals

Maybe you just moved to a new area, or simply have a new project you need advice on, such as building a house, finding a health-care provider, job searching, or even finding a good WIFI cafe. Ask your geographical neighbors on Neighbor.

com, a site that is currently working in the San Francisco area but promises to expand soon. The site lets you pose a question, such as: "Do you know an accountant who has experience with tax issues incurred by a small services business that has international clients?" Then people try to answer it for you, and you can also give answers to questions you are knowledgeable about. Neighbor also has an advisory board made up of "CEOs of homes" who review products and services, with the aim of helping consumers make choices. Also, the site wants to be a friendly, helpful neighbor: 10 % of any advertising or sponsorship revenue they receive goes into their Good Neighbor Fund, which is meant to make regular contributions to community groups that help people in need.

    Neighbor.com/ In their own words

Let's start with you, because without you, there wouldn't be an "us" to write about. Are you the CEO of a home? Do you make multiple decisions on just about everything, for multiple individuals, and then you have to turn around and worry about yourself? Oh, and have you noticed how some of the biggest decisions are for the smallest people and some of the smallest decisions are for the biggest ones? If you answered yes to any of these questions, then you're definitely the CEO of a home. Just like us. We started Neighbor.com because we felt there had to be a better way to find the best local knowledge that helps with the many daily decisions you make about your life, your family and your home. What we do is capture and organize precious nuggets of local insight and knowledge, and make them accessible to everyone.

Why Neighbor.com/ might be a killer

The site manages to provide information in a personable, friendly, non-intimidating way. You feel like the people answering you really are your neighbors, and you can even see their names and what they do.

    Some questions about Neighbor.com/

Going nation-wide is going to be a huge task. Are the folks at Neighbor prepared for the expansion? It could be the next Craig's List if they do it right.
