MyMapChat.com - The World Is Your Social Oyster

    mymapchat

MyMapChat is another one of those map based sites in which you and I can send messages to anyone in the world. What you'll find on landing on the site is a Google powered map upon which are sprinkled myriads of global shout outs, messages from people all over this green earth of ours, pictures, and globe-trotters. With MyMapChat you can post a message of your own, follow other users, send private messages, and form groups. Most of the current site members seem to be from Germany, unsurprising as the site is Deutsch, born and bred; however you can find other nationalities by clicking around on the map. It's essentially a very 2.0 webby way of making international buddies and seeing what's around the world, pretty simple, but amusing stuff. Free to join.

    In their own words

    "Send Your

    Messages

    To The World

    To A Group

    Or

    To Other Users!"

Why it might be a killer

MyMapChat gives you a warm sort of 'we are the world' feeling. It's easy to use, and somewhat interesting especially if you're into traveling and world trekking. This site could be useful for finding new friends and places to crash while you're backpacking around the globe.

    Some questions

MyMapChat really hasn't done anything spectacularly new. GoogleMaps mashups are a dime a dozen these days and MyMap looks pretty standard. Will it be able to survive in an environment dependent upon short attention spans?
