MaYoMo (short for “Map Your Moments”) is a new social site that lets people from all over the world take an active role in citizen journalism. Through it, any person can add his own news items to a provided map and let the world at large know what is going on in his corner of the world.

The news themselves are grouped by category, of course. These include “Society”, “Education”, “Art & Culture” and “Travel” along with pivotal categories such as “Crime” and “Incidents”.

On the other hand, an “Ask For News” functionality will enable any person to request coverage of any issue he has heard about, and learn what has really happened.

A very nice touch is that a virtual continent is part of the map. This virtual land (aptly named “Virtu”)has been added so that people who are keen on games like World Of Warcraft and Second Life are also accounted for.

At the end of the day, a site such as this one will let you know what is happening all over the world, reported by those who are experiencing it first hand, and who have a direct link to the event as it originates in the culture they are a part of.
