Filmator.net - Web2.0 finally reaches the art world
Its called a Filmation, an online presentation made using images and narration. Add a little video and a few titles and you have your own mini documentary! No this is not for the masses and it"s never going to enjoy the popular success the likes of Youtube et al. No this is more for intellectuals and creative types which narrows the audience down to a mere smidgeon of the wider world. That said given the quality of the output from this device, it could well make a niche for itself in the art world or the documentary arena too for that matter, or dare I say it even in the emerging world of mixing and mashing online media. Given the hurdles of publishing through the traditional media channels the growth of self publishing has naturally exploded 50 times-over exponentially and the ink is still wet. It will take a little while for the dust to settle before the frustrated story tellers and expressionists realize that devices like Filmator will now allow them to bypass the blockades and create professional documentaries, etc. with little more than a PC and a camera. The tech world is moving at an outstanding pace and as the world moves to switching off their televisions devices like this will only grow.
