CoMagz.com - Create Your Own Zine

    comagz

The web is mined for, above all things, relevant content and communication. There are social news and bookmarking sites like Digg or Reddit that help users aggregate their favorite web content including articles, links, and news. And then there are the citizen journalism sites like CNN’s iReport, where users actually submit their own stories and videos for public consumption. CoMagz, a new site, takes the best of both social news networking and citizen journalism and has formed the CoMagazine concept. A CoMagazine, or CoMagz is essentially a magazine made by a community of users. Users submit articles, news and links, or they can write their own column and submit it. Registered users at CoMagz receive their own webpage where they can build a personal profile, contact other users and exchange interests and information. The most popular articles are posted front page and the least popular are thrown out. There’s also a modicum of moderation which allows for more participation in both large and small communities. With CoMagz, everyone gets a chance to participate.

    In their own words

“CoMagz is a citizen media website which provides communities and groups their own online magazines—the CoMagz “CoMagazines”. The content of a CoMagazine is created by users and rated by users. Any user can submit hot news, articles, and recommended links—or even write a column. CoMagz wants to be your favorite place on the web for reading and writing about items that interest you…CoMagz is also a community of people with shared interests. All users who choose to register with CoMagz are automatically given their own page in which they can put information about themselves. Readers of a CoMagazine can contact each other, discuss ideas, exchange information, and more. “

Why it might be a killer

CoMagz allows writers a chance to practice and get their stuff published. It lets users share interests and news while having ownership in their own magazine. The focus on a magazine build community and content.

    Some questions

Do we need another social news site? Will users be drawn to the concept of a CoMagazine? How will CoMagazine beat the competition?
