CodePinkAlert.org - Fighting The War With Peace

    codepinkalert

Think that the current state of political affairs needs some serious revamping? Are you all for social justice and peace? CodePink, a grassroots movements started by women, may be the place for you. On November 17, 2002, Medea Benjamin, Starhawk, Jodie Evans, Diane Wilson and some 100 or so women marched on Washington to protest the pre-emptive strike on Iraq. They staged a four month sit-in in front of the White House. Thus started CodePink. Ever since, it has grown into a world-wide movement working towards ending the war in Iraq and building peace. The site itself features a wealth of resources on getting involved. There´s a list of campaignsâ€"‘Impeachment Day,´ ‘Peace Surge,´ and ‘Occupation Projection´ are just a few of the missions planned by CodePink. You´ll also find tools for planning events and founding local groups. There are tips for negotiating the media, for direct action and street theater, as well info on how to start women´s training camps. If you want to get involved CodePink will show you how.

    In their own words

‘It´s about education people. It´s about making an alternative version of reality visible on the streets and on the news. We´re angry about what´s going on; we´re standing up for our beliefs and principles. Ands often we´re also having a great time.´

Why it might be a killer

The war is growing more and more unpopular; people are starting to organize and find means of campaigning against it. CodePink will appeal to women who want to get involved and help build a peaceful world.

    Some questions

The site is very pink. Will this appeal only to a certain liberal demographic?
