Nevertheless, artists should be able to express themselves freely and have a place to do so. Artbreak gives them just that. A break. The site is a jumping board for artists to showcase their avant garde paint splatters and stunning portraitures. Artists can upload their art and sell it at a price of their choosing. Each artist gets a profile with links to all their artwork. Each piece gets its own space for commentary, viewing stats, votes, and tags. As you peruse through all the art, you can bookmark your favorites, send it to friends or purchase if you’ve got some cash to spare. There’s also a chat function using Meebo and a forum for discussion. Signing up for an account is free.

Artbreak isn’t merely a showcase, it’s a market and a community. It gives artists exposure, and potentially money, which is always good. The site has nice features—commentary and votes provide feedback, while the chatrooms are great for meeting the artists themselves.

Artbreak could implement a more artful UI. The design isn’t as aesthetic as it should be. Will there be more community features put in place? More comprehensive profiles?
