AnalystsEdge.com - Digg for the Financial World

    analystsedge

Analystsedge.com is the Digg for finance news. Users post and rate their favorite stories on all things finance. And, like Digg, the stories with the highest ratings get to the top of the site. The site offers three main categories of private equity, hedge fund, venture capital fund news. The site has a forum, and also lists the all-time most popular stories and the most recent news. The site also has a job board, which you can post for $150/30 days. The only obvious missing component that I did not see was a social networking angle to create individual profiles, which they may be hoping to add as the site gains momentum (or its possible I missed it).

    In their own words

All of the news here has been submitted by our users. Submit stories, upgrade the good, and downgrade the bad!

Why it might be a killer

Digg and other user generate news communities are a large part of the information revolution going on out there, and they are definitely changing the way news is covered and which stories keep a long shelf life. Creating a niche site for the financial world seems smart and will probably make some financial institutions and insider traders nervous.

    Some questions

Is there a market for a niche Digg-type site, especially in the financial world? What is the PR and marketing plan for this site? How are they going to generate users so that this site becomes a player in the finacial world? How do they plan to make a profit?
