Ameritocracy.com - Debate and Rate Political Statements

    ameritocracy

Debate is the name of the game on Ameritocracy.com. Users log on to post questionable statements made by politicians on this open forum, starting an open discussion on what exactly that individual meant to say. From here, users comment on and rate that individual’s intention and credibility. The purpose of the site is to generate dialogue among users with different opinions, hence representing all sides of the spectrum, and leading other users to evaluate all sides of a quote when making their own assessment. Posted statements reflect thoughts on the war in Iraq, the 2008 U.S. presidential race, and various other hot topics in the political world.

    In their own words

“The core features of Ameritocracy are adding statements (made by a person or organization) and assessing statements... From this, Jane Doe will develop a reputation based on the community ratings, and you and your sources will develop a positive reputation so long as no one identifies your submission as a misquote or deliberately inaccurate information. The goal is to get a few different perspectives for each statement, so anyone looking to know more about a statement can get a broader picture and make their own assessment.”

Why it might be a killer

Ameritocracy is a fantastic site for engaging in a good old fashioned political debate. Users have the opportunity to learn the various perspectives that other people have on different political issues. However, the site is fairly limited to domestic issues. Statements concerning international politics could enhance the site and add a different dynamic.

    Some questions

How can adding an international topic add to the site? What other discussion categories can be added?
