YourSports.com - Amateur Sports Network Takes on Crowd

    yoursports

Like sports? Like to play sports? Then check out YourSports, a new social network dedicated to amateur sports. Their focus is not on the super stars and legends. They're all about you, the amateur athlete who plays for the love of the game and nothing else. Members, besides having the requisite profile page can find like minded sports enthusiasts and players to share their love with. One of the site's main highlights is a video reel featuring top entries by community members from any non-pro field. Videos of feats and plays are a big part of the site's main attractions. Membership isn't limited to athletes however--members may also be coaches, or even just family and fans of amateur sportsmen. Other features include ratings, personal channels, and Facebook apps (Rank'Em where you can rank your high school's sports, and Brackets which allows you set up tournaments and vote for your favorite teams.)

    In their own words

"YourSports is a Web 2.0 sports media company devoted to the genuine nature of amateur sports. We support the amateur sports world through events, scholarships, Facebook applications, and YourSports10 - the first nationally broadcast highlight show recognizing amateur athletes."

Why it might be a killer

YourSports has a cozy community fan that will appeal to amateur sports players. The amateur sports field hasn't yet developed as much, so in that aspect YourSports is unique. The videos have a professional gloss and they're certainly not lacking in content.

    Some questions

The automatic video launch can get extremely irritating. Besides that, what makes this site so different from the rest? It hasn' t got any new or interesting features? The amateur appeal might not be so broad. Will it survive?
