Yammer.com - Get Your Company Talking

    yammer

If you’re tired of not being able to be productive due to the fact that you don’t know what your employees are up to, check out Yammer.com. This site will allow you to keep track of what your employees are doing, just by having them answer the simple question of “What are you doing?”. When your employees respond to said question, what they answer is posted on a common hub (just like an RSS feed), where other employees and you can discuss new ideas and divide the work evenly. With time, this can grow to be a large database of past ideas, conversations, and work reports. Having this information be easily reachable will allow you to keep better track of your employees’ work production, and let you know who’s doing what. You don’t have to be the CEO of the company to get started with this service. Just sign up your company and start inviting your coworkers.

    In their own words

“Yammer is a tool for making companies and organizations more productive through the exchange of short frequent answers to one simple question: “What are you working on?””

Why it might be a killer

It’s one of the best ways to manage group work online. It should make for an interesting (and more productive) work experience.

    Some questions

Aren’t there too many of these sites already? Are companies willing to let their employees use tools that are too similar to social networking, thus hindering production?
