Thingfo.com - Communities Built Around Twitter

    thingfo

Thingfo is a community building service centered around things. The premise: you’re into things—gourmet food, sports food, literature, the Clash, Asian History, space—you like to discuss those things and find others to discuss those things with. Thus we have Thingfo. Members create info streams around things that interest them. They are formed via 30 character updates which you post to say something about anything. Pictures and tags may also be added. Tabs differentiate What from Where and Did from Said. The service integrates with Twitter too. The end result is a personal profile stemming from all the various bits of data you’ve entered. From there the service is able to make relevant connections.

    In their own words

“Thingfo instant community for any Thing.
Create a destination for the things you're talking about.
Share your things with your friends, meet new people.”

Why it might be a killer

Thingfo functions well as a sort of Twitter community organization tool. It’s microblogging at its most extreme. Users offer bits about themselves via Twitter, and this is organized into a community of sorts.

    Some questions

Thingfo needs to provide more information for passing users. At first glance it appears to be simply another social site. In order to be even more effective a search tool is needed.
