SkilliPedia.com - Business Networking Based On Skills

A new business network, SkilliPedia aims to differentiate itself from well-established ones such as LinkedIn and Xing by having people and businesses recommended in a different fashion. Members are not recommended by their colleagues or their friends.

Rather, they are recommended by their actual value. When people invite each other, they become contacts that are bound by actual relevance, and if your skills are not truly what the other member needs then the connection will not prosper. You will not end up linked to individuals or businesses that have nothing in common with you, and who don’t really need your services.

At it most basic level, what this site aims to do is to eradicate the concept of professional networks in which one ends up amassing a never-ending succession of contacts that become irrelevant in due time, and who were introduced by a friend of a friend of a friend.

It is an interesting enough concept, as it places all the emphasis on what you can do, not who you know. The thing is, both sides are equally crucial when it comes to doing professionals relations. Recommendations go hand in hand with skills in due time. Who you get to know matters as much as what you can do, as it speaks of your actual degree of acceptance in the market. Turning your back on either is not really that productive, and that casts a shadow on how practical a site like this can really be.

    Skillipedia.com In their own words

“SkilliPedia is a free career and business network. It connects you to those who need your skills, business services and products.

You don't have to upgrade to a premium account to make the most of SkilliPedia: complete your profile and you will have the maximum visibility for public profile.

Business and career networking, at SkilliPedia, is not about being recommended by colleagues, friends and classmates. Most people oblige when you ask them to recommend your skills or business services.”

Why Skillipedia.com might be a killer

The idea is somehow attractive, as people who are skilled enough could receive the recognition they deserve without having to ask favors of anybody in order to thrive.
