In their own words
"We aren"t trying to be an IM client, nor is it even a stand alone client, and since it is a Firefox extension it even works on Linux. Being browser-integrated allows us to be complementary to sites like facebook, one way to think of it is as a "vicinity/locality filter" for other social networking sites. In fact, the toolbar is really just a skin, the underlying technology is meant to be easily integrateable into other applications (for example, an IM client, Konfabulator widget, or even one of Vista"s Sidebar Gadgets)."
Why it might be a killer
Sixsense is a really cool tool which enables you to discover when the people you want to meet are nearby. You can also browse localized virtual bulletin boards, leave a note, or comment on one. Unlike other similar services, Sixsense doesn"t require a stand-alone client download.
