Placely is a new social travel site whose goal is to connect travelers while on the go. Aimed at execs, frequent travelers and enthusiasts, the site offers a means for travelers not only to organize their trips, but also to stay in touch with friends around the globe.

As a Placely member, you have at your service a whole network of friends, family and colleagues—you’ll always know where everyone will be so you can plan your trip accordingly. Imagine, you could arrange your trip to Spain to coincide with that of your reliable and handy Spanish speaking friend Pablo, or you could round up some enthusiastic climbers in your town and venture to Everest or Kilimanjaro, or the Andes. Placely’s features include a calendaring tool, friends, profiles, and maps of course. Placely is a free service.

Placely caters to all sorts of travelers—from families and college pals to business execs and professionals. It meets all of their needs in one easy to use, interface. Their site, unlike others brings together the possibility of friendly reunions, get togethers and meetings that might otherwise never happen.

Placely really hasn’t stumbled upon anything new or original. Social travel sites are a dime a dozen and they all aim to connect fellow travelers. How are they planning to gain traction?

“Placely is a web service providing travelers the ability to stay better connected with people while traveling. The Company was founded by two social and business travelers, living on opposite sides of the U.S., who knew a better tool existed to see or meet people while constantly on the road. Placely was created with the vision to provide frequent travelers a service to geographically map their friends, family and colleagues at any given time - past, present and future. The Placely service is currently in alpha and has gotten great feedback from current users. As frequent travelers ourselves however, we at Placely also know there is room to improve the service and are always looking for suggestions.
