Most newspapers have a “missed connections” section where people can publish a crush that they have on a stranger with the hopes that the stranger will read it and get in touch with them. Passingstranger is the online version of the “missed connections” section which allows people to post about people they have seen in random public locations but whom they weren’t, for whatever reason, able to talk to.

So if you see a cute girl every day on the train on the way to work but you are to shy to stand up and talk to her, you could try professing your attraction to her on Passingstranger in the hopes that her, or one of her friends, will see it and get in contact with you.

Have they considered reorganizing the site by geographic location? Currently, people just post on the main page regardless of where they are from making it pretty difficult for “the red head on the train” to even know that you are talking about her because she doesn’t know what city you are in.
