Paird.com is a dating site with a twist; matches can be arranged by anyone- except you. You can match up other people but you can't choose your own match. Site members do not have a profile, just a photo and sentence about themselves. The site currently offers two options for matching: men to women or women to men. These are different because when matching in the "men to women" category, the page displays a large photo of a man and about twelve smaller photos of women to choose from. To pair people together, all that the matchmaker has to do is click on one of the twelve photos and the pairs' information will be sent to both of their private in-boxes. When the chosen people find their match in their in-box they can respond with a thumbs-up or a thumbs-down. Pretty brutal, but for a site based on a single photo it's not so barbaric. Matchmakers can track their matches in terms of successes and failures and win points to become one of Paird.com's top matchmakers.

Paird.com is certainly offering a new spin on online dating. Matchmakers and singles have nothing to loose and their personal privacy is certainly not at risk (however, non-singles are a different story). It is questionable as to how just a thumbnail photo can inspire a true match, but it can't be any worse than a mail-order bride. Right?
