Few sports have the social aspects of golf. On golf courses around the world, families bond, friendships grow, and partnerships are established. Rarely do you see a single golfer. Most compete in groups of 2-4 and often golf with different individuals each week. This creates a complex social network that branches out across over 50 million worldwide golfers. oobgolf is a virtual representation of that golfer network. It provides golfers with access to the proven tools and concepts of social networking and consumer submitted/edited content. On the surface, it is the most accurate listing of the world's courses and the statistics of every individual that plays them. Dive deeper and one will find a living social organism that is self-editing, self-policing, and growing exponentially. The primary focus on oobgolf is on the golfer. One possible reason golf is so addicting is that everyone hits an incredible shot at least once. When they do, they feel like a pro and catch a glimpse into the world of potential. oobgolf feeds into this concept. Just like professionals, each golfer has his/her own detailed statistic's page that tracks every score and every hole.

Golfing is one of the most popular sports in the US and this site feeds that addiction. From social networking to tracking to rating to learning, the site has it all. It's a golfer's paradise.

Do they sponsor contests for members? Do they connect with the PGA or other professional sources to gain sponsorship? I saw that they had google ads, but don't they want to make more funds by getting major companies from the golf industry to sponsor their site?

Answers: To-date we have not actively pursued sponsorships of atheletes or or major companies. While we see both of these as very valuable long term, our current focus is on building out a richer features set and improving the depth of the site. We do sponsor small contests between members on the site and hope to next year host one or more actual golf tournaments that draw in members from different geographical areas.
