    MyTweetMap.com - Mapping Twitters

    mytweetmap

Looking to grab a coffee and want to see if any of your Twitter friends are nearby to join you? Car broke down and you’re wondering if one of your Twitter friends is close enough to pick you up? Log onto MyTweetMap.com and you can do just that, as well as see where your Twitter friends are located in respect to one another or a geographic landmark. This service accesses your Twitter account once you enter your Twitter name and password, then displays a Google Map showing where each of your friends was when they posted their latest Twitter. The map refreshes once per minute, and you can click and drag to move the map and see a different area. You can also update your own status from MyTweetMap.com instead of logging onto Twitter separately.

    In their own words

Welcome to Tweet Map! Please login so we can get the most recent tweets from your friends. Information automatically updates every minute. Your username and password are not stored by us.

Why it might be a killer

Given the rising popularity of Twitter, MyTweetMap.com has a huge, growing market of possible users to tap. It is fun and also has possible practical applications, like those noted above. It’s easy to imagine this program being incorporated by Twitter.com in the future.

    Some questions

Could they add a “Remember Me” feature so you don’t have to re-enter your name and password every time you visit MyTweetMap.com? Can you zoom in and out on the maps? This option did not show up on my test run.
