myMoment has latched on to the momentum created by micro-blogging sites like Twitter, and aims to take it a step forward. On top of the microblogging element, myMoment adds social networking components; you’ll find galleries, bookmarks, groups, and libraries.

On the homepage are the Tweet-like updates or moments. Click on any person’s moment to see their profile along with latest bookmarks and moments. You’ll also find info on their friends, diary, galleries, charts, groups and guestbook. The library section contains an odd assortment of tags relating to entertainment (playing, watching, reading), physical (eating, drinking) and others (feeling, location, weather). Currently you won’t find much of anything in the library, or any where else for that matter, as the site is fairly new and lacks members. Of course you can change that and join now for free.

myMoment has a decent idea, taking micro-blogging and adding a social network set up. Users will get to know more about fellow members than they might with services like Twitter. The experience is more complete. Connections are easier to make.

The problem with myMoment is that it’s entering an already saturated market. Who really wants another social network? It’s hardly novel and it needs work. The design is unappealing. Will users find it trite and contrived?
