In their own words
Where to go? What to do? Who to do it with? Meet your neighbors. Date your neighbors. Network with your neighbors. Neighborhood recommendations for dining. The options are endless for Localconnections.com. The model for Localconnections.com came from an elevator conversation one day where we were talking about how little we know about people in our building, let alone people down the street from us. We also realized that what if someone is moving to a new neighborhood they had no way to get to know details about that area. Now you have all the tools necessary to be comfortable and get comfortable with your neighbors and surrounding neighbors!
Why it might be a killer
While I was not particularly intrigued or impressed by this site, I continue to remind myself that social networking sites are still big business in the internet world. This site is clean, professional and certainly has good intentions, so it may catch some fire after being around for a while.
Some questions
How are they marketing this site? I put in "San Diego" do to a local search and not much of anything pulled up...no restaurant recommendations, no social profiles, nothing. Maybe I just did the search wrong, but I sense this site is still trying to build its clientele. Also, what distinguishes this site from the myriad of other social networking sites based on local destinations? In other words, why would I go here to find a great restaurant in San Diego when there are a ton of great community websites for restaurant recommendations that already exist out there?
