In their own words
"Jaman is a new online film community for people that enjoy world cinema and want to meet and hang with more of their kind."
Why it might be a killer
Staying under the blockbuster movie radar, Jaman fulfills a niche market of global independent cinema with a better-than-DVD quality image, and a well-developed social interaction component will draw both reputable filmmakers and their fans. Less than 1% of films produced in the world get distribution in the U.S., leaving the market wide open for internet exploitation. The price for rental and purchase is not bound by DVD licensing, keeping it low and reasonable.
Some questions
Will the fact that it cannot be played on a Tv screen limit its appeal for cineastes unwilling to watch movies on a computer screen? Is there a strong enough market in the U.s. for foreign language films?
