Greenopolis.com - Educational Network for Green Living

Green social networks are becoming increasingly en vogue. New comer Greenopolis joins the ranks of such eco-friendly sites such as RiverWired and GUSSE.

Like these sites, Greenopolis’ focus is on making small steps to help save the environment. However, it concentrates heavily on education. The Greenopolis Foundation is set to offer funding and resources to groups, institutions and schools in order to promote change through education. In addition, the site will offer eGreenU, green curriculum resources, ideas and learning materials focused on sustainability. Educators will be able to upload, search and share materials on green topics and conservation. Of course, all work and no play, isn’t much fun, so Greenopolis has also got a playground section with quizzes, games, challenges and tools to reinforce the green ethic. Meanwhile the general public can sign up, write their own Myopolis blog, discuss topics in the forum, participate in events and shop for items at the Green Mall with their accumulated points. There’s also a green video network on the way.

    Greenopolis.com In their own words

“Greenopolis is an interactive, collaborative and educational “green” community web site bringing together individuals, communities, organizations and corporations to help people learn, partner and make incremental, positive environmental changes in their daily lives and communities.

Greenopolis is a place for people of all ages, backgrounds and lifestyles to become a part of the ongoing effort towards a greener planet.”

Why Greenopolis.com might be a killer

Unlike other similar networks, Greenopolis provides a complete social network and an educational toolset, which is key to developing and reinforcing the spirit of living greener. It’s well put together. There are abundant resources on site to keep people informed and active.

    Some questions about Greenopolis.com

How is this site funded? Are there tools to tracking your carbon footprint? It would be more beneficial if users didn’t’ have to register to access the tools and tips. Passing visitors won’t get much out of it.
