    Geezeo.com - Social Networking & Personal Finance

    geezeo

Geezeo merges the social networking platform with personal finance services. You can track your own finances by consolidating all of your accounts (including checking, savings, mortgage, car payments, student loans, etc), as well as network with others on the site to get advice and information about how to manage your money (through Geezeo Groups). You can also be mobile with your personal finances by having Geezeo send your balances to your cell while in the store debating whether to buy that new leather jacket or not. While they are adamant about the security and safety of their site, you do have to provide them with your passwords for all of your accounts to consolidate those accounts. The site has been featured in the Wall Street Journal, and does seem to be useful with a strong focus on students in particular.

    In their own words

Geezeo helps people make "Educated Financial Decision". We"re a privately-held company based out of Framingham, MA and we’re building the best personal finance application in the world.

Why it might be a killer

Merging social networking with personal finance services is a clever and pragmatic twist on the exploding social networking genre. With the strong focus on student finances, they offer a useful platform for students to learn and share, as well as vent! Getting instant bank balances to the mobile is a particularly unique idea.

    Some questions

When trying to first open the site, I was not able to see much because I still use Internet Explorer as my web browser, and this site doesn"t support Internet Explorer yet. That was a hassle and didn"t seem a good approach since most people still use Explorer as their browser. Still, the site seems valuable; are they going to integrate the site into other social networking platforms like MySpace or Facebook? Also, are they going to add advice from experts as well as relying on the advice of fellow user?
