FamilySays is the family equivalent of Facebook or MySpace. The major differentiating factor is privacy. Only family members and whoever else they've invited have access to their pages, which means random strangers won't be reading about your family vacations or drooling over pictures of your daughter's graduation. As with every network, FamilySays allows for video, photo, and document sharing. There's a calendar for planning and keeping track of events. The design is meant to accommodate the most technically unskilled of users. Six main tabs keep things simple and organized. Writing updates and posts is just like writing an email. For more ambitious families, the site can be fully customized. There's a free 30 day trial version. Afterwards, families can choose between the Basic plan which incorporates up to 10 authors, an unlimited number of guests, and 200MB of storage, all for $5 a month. The Family Reunion option costs $15 a month and allows up to 50 authors and comes with 500MB of storage space.

"Family Says is a private family website service where you can share your latest family news, pictures, videos, events, and more."
| Why it might be a killer | |||
For one, FamilySays is streamlined and simple, so that all family members, even granny dearest can use it. It's also private, so that things are kept within the family. Basically, it's a great way for families who are spread out around the world to keep in touch and feel connected.

Is FamilySays worth it? There are other similar family oriented sites that don't charge as much. Also, are 500MB of storage space even enough, what with the amount of media we produce and consume these days?

| I am a Family Says user now based in Japan, and I use it to keep my family here connected to family in the US. Everyone in our family, oldest to youngest, contributes to the site because it's so easy to use. Not wanting to hassle with building my own site, I went with this one, and I was up and running in minutes. Their page designs are simple and clean, and I like that there are no ads and it's free from intrusions common to other sites. Way to go - it's a winner! | ||

| Thanks for taking the time to review Family Says. I think you captured the spirit of Family Says very well. We strive to keep things simple enough that the whole family can participate. We also believe in keeping those same interactions free from the random people that may stroll in off the street into other social networks.Our customers tell us that the value they get out of Family Says is well worth the price. One thing that you won't find with our service is advertisements intruding on your experience. Naturally, the monthly fees help make that possible.As our service grows, we've been closely monitoring how much media our customers are using. So far, our size limits haven't been a problem. You can always include pictures and videos in your message from wherever they are currently stored, be it on Flickr, Photobucket, etc. and those won't impact your account limits. If size limits began to be eaten up quickly, we could certainly reevaluate current storage limits. | ||
