Explode is the site that lets you search for people based on their various social profiles and tags. Just type in the name of the person you are looking for or an interest that you want to find people under, and Explode will search a group of social sites. These include Livejournal, Vox, DeadJournal, GreatestJournal, Tribe, Flickr, YouTube, 43 Things, Twitter, and EduSpaces, as well as Explode, of course. There´s no need to create a profile on Explode to use the site, but if you would like to manipulate what others see when they search for you, you can create a hub for all of your social profiles from the site. If you have an account with OpenID, Livejournal, Vox, WordPress, AIM, Pip, or TypeKey, you can just login using your username from those sources.

The fact that you don´t have to create a whole new profile will be attractive to a lot of potential users, since ease of use and time saved are important now in attracting potential site readers.

Will they add the big social profile types of sites such as Facebook and MySpace, since a lot of people have profiles there, but not on some of the other smaller sites currently being searched? How does the search work, since when I typed in my name, none of my profiles came up from the sites that I use that they include in their list? How will they compete with Spock once it launches?
