    DetroitCity.com - Motor City's Social Network

    detroitcity

DetroitCity is a social network and event directory for people in Detroit, of course. Its primary focus is the Detroit music scene. So all White Stripe wannabees and aspirers can hook up and make industry connections simply by playing the ropes on DetroitCity. Unsurprisingly, the site doesn’t stray too far from your usual social network. It’s got the requisite nightlife shots, venue listings, videos, songs, and a promoter’s section. Users can bedeck their profiles with playlists, self-made videos, and glamour shots. You’ll find a bulletin board for highlighting parties and hot spots around town. Sign up now for free and indulge in the wonderful Detroit night life.

    In their own words

“DetroitCity.com was formed to create an online environment for people to connect in the Michigan music industry. Our goal is to provide a sense of community that will facilitate the growth of the Metro Detroit nightlife and entertainment scene.

In order for artists to grow, they need the opportunity to network not only with listeners, but also the people that will help their dreams become a reality. We have achieved this through developing a social networking site that involves everyone in the industry, including artist and listeners, as well as promoters, venues, and record labels.”

Why it might be a killer

DetroitCity has done a good job of promoting the city’s musical acts, venues and events. It’s got lots of features and gives the local talent a platform to get their goods out. It will definitely appeal to Detroit’s hardy, fun loving youth crowd.

    Some questions

Will DetroitCity add reviews and more editorial content? Will users be induced to join yet another social network?
