Constantcomedy.com - Keep or Kick Off Comedians

    constantcomedy

Big fan of standup or sketch comedy? If you are, you will enjoy this site. This is a niche social networking site that allows comedians to post videos of themselves doing a comedy sketch and then let their peers or other users to rate them. The originality to this site is their live comedy show (called ConstantComedyLive!), where a group of people watch a comedy clip at the same time. After a clip has played for 20 seconds, viewers will be allowed to vote. If the overall rating falls below 30%, the clip will be voted off the show, and the next clip will begin to play. A "crowd" bar displays below the currently playing video so you can see how well each clip is doing. The other fun element for comedians is likely the ability to network through the social networking features. The site also has exclusive pro comedy shows for viewing.

    In their own words

"What is ConstantComedy? ConstantComedy is the next stage for entertainment: Watch comedy videos together with your friends Know that you are seeing the same thing at the same time Make new friends on our social networking platform Be seen and rated by a global audience."

Why it might be a killer

The live, interactive live comedy feature distinguishes this site from other talent sites and makes it fun and intriguing. It is also a forum for comedians to test their talent and make connections to other comedians (pro and novice) and critical people in their industry.

    Some questions

The site is still slow with a lot of bugs (I couldn't even play the featured clip, and when I tried to hit the "people" tab a crazy message came up). I hope they are working to clean the site up and get some traffic to the site. They also had some featured comedians who had never even logged onto the site -- that just looks corny and desperate. The site clearly has some connections to professional comedians and those in the industry, and they should build their site up around those they know....while obviously cultivating relationships with more over time.
