AirTalkr.com - Synchs Info About Your Buddies

    airtalkr

Like many of us, you might be getting to the point where you're feeling overwhelmed by all the methods of social interaction that the internet has to offer these days. We all use multiple messengers and communities, and sometimes it's hard to keep up with all your buddies across all of their IM and social networking services. AirTalkr, a multi-platform messaging service, synchs information across a variety of IM systems and social networks, allows you to access information about your friends without searching on multiple websites or chat functions. AirTalkr uses technology called an "Aircard" to accomplish this; when you sign up for an account, it aggregates your buddies' information online across ICQ, AIM, MSN, Yahoo!, Google Talk, Flickr, mySpace, Friendster, or YouTube and gives you access to their most recently updated information. You can chat with your friends, naturally, but you can also view their latest blogs, twitter, photos and videos. Registration is free, but you'll need to install the AIR runtime software to use the application.

    In their own words

"AirTalkr is a multi-protocol Instant Messenger that connects to MSN, Yahoo!, GTalk, AOL and ICQ. Not only that, it also has connects to various Web 2.0 services like Flickr and YouTube. AirTalkr runs on Adobe AIR, so you will need the runtime to use it. As of now, AirTalkr can run on Windows and Mac".

Why it might be a killer

AirTalkr definitely cuts down on the amount of time you spend going back and forth between different messenger services and social networking sites to try and communicate with and get information about your friends. The application works on several different messaging services, so it's likely yours will be supported.

    Some questions

The site likes some functionality; for example, the "blog" link is actually not a link yet, along with all the other links across the bottom and left-hand side of the page; when will this be updated? AirTalkr may support several messaging systems, but it hasn't really tapped into the social networking market as much; what about Facebook?
