Poodz has been described as a Twitter-like application that adds photos, videos, and sound clips. You can upload multimedia greetings and messages and your friends can logon and see what you are up to. Any of the content can also be sent my MMS, making this a fully mobile social network. One drawback of the site is that it is almost entirely in French making it a bit more difficult to orient yourself at first and also meaning that you might have troubles making new friends if you don’t speak French. Poodz allows you to tag messages, which allows you to quickly search through your previous posts. The service also allows you to easily divide up your posts depending on the type of media meaning that you can choose which RSS feeds to subscribe to for your friends, for example by selecting only video.

Why it might be a killer

The site is really well built and being able to communicate through video with your friends is a far more attractive option that writing to them as is the case with the majority of social networking sites. There is a lot to like about Poodz and this could become very popular, especially in French-speaking countries.

Some questions

Ultimately, social networking sites are only as good as the number of people who sign up for them. It is a crowded space already, and this leads one to question whether Poodz will be able to attract enough interest to become a dynamic social network.
