AtlasPost.com - It's Your Neighborhood. Personalize It.

It may come from Taiwan, but AtlasPost’s aims are worldwide. Most social networking sites focus on you—your likes, needs, wants, your state of affairs. AtlasPost wants to shift the focus from just you per say, to you and your neighborhood. It’s networking on a map rather than a text-based platform. AtlasPost utilizes GoogleMaps for its purposes. Start out by personalizing your neighborhood with the Atlas Village feature. You can purchase all sorts of creative tokens to decorate your territory : cute kitties, penguins, castles, trees, stores etc. The second nifty feature is the geo-photo tool. This allows you to see who’s posting photos and where they are. With the photo album feature you can add photos and tag them from where they were taken. You can also add blog posts and videos to your map. Find others in your neighborhood, or hook up with friend around the world. It’s a small world afterall.

  In their own words

“atlaspost.com is an innovative map-based social network that lets users network on a global map. We’re the first service that let’s users personalize their own neighborhoods with buildings, mushrooms, elephants and more with our “Map Village” function. We also offer map-based blogging and photo tagging for users to build their profiles on the Map. Interaction is the focus of our company and we hope to bring people closer online and on the map”

Why it might be a killer

AltlasPost is a innovative way to social network. It takes Googe Maps, Flickr and Facebook and mashes them together to create a fun way to share who you are through where you are and where you’ve been. It’s got something for everyone.

  Some questions

Will AtlasPost’s confusing UI a turn-off for consumers. Will users want to pay for tokens for their neighborhood? Can it reach the popularity of other networks (Facebook and Myspace come to mind)?
