In two thousand and five Time magazine described Bishop TD Jakes as one of the top twenty five most influential evangelists in the United States. He founded the Greater Emmanuel Temple of Faith, his first pastorate, in nineteen seventy nine. His church was formed in West Virginia and he had a small congregation of just ten members.
