PublicSurplus.com - Federal eBay

I don’t think I can come up with a better example of the convenience of creating, nurturing and then making money out a market niche than this site, which is nothing but an auction area for federal and public agencies. Here’s the thing: it seems that government offices around the country usually have overstock materials and resources: office supplies, mousetraps, portable classrooms, automobiles, buses, heavy equipment, shop equipment, kitchen equipment, athletic equipment, musical instruments, computers, printers, furniture, etc. Some state laws require public agencies to relocate their overstock stuff internally, and since there is always some left-behind agency that’s running short of budget, it is a great way to keep accounts clean while helping other bits of the state to stock whatever they might me missing. When agencies are allowed to sell their stuff to particulars, the auction is open for individual buyers, who can greatly benefit from these odds and ends, in so as much as sellers will not be as strict about selling prices as individual merchants that sell their stuff through similar private auction systems like eBay.
