The aim of Medicines.org.uk is to provide information on medicines that is current, accurate, and comprehensive, and therefore improving public health and safety. The site works closely with the British National Health Service, the pharmaceutical industry, patients, and healthcare professionals to create easy to understand information on all types of medicines. The site provides links to the eMC (electronic medicines compendium) which provides summaries of products characteristics and patient information leaflets for medicines available in the UK, and to X-PIL which makes patient information leaflets available to everyone including people who are visually impaired or blind. The site also has links to Medicine Guides which is a new source of information for the public that is easy to understand and up to date, as well as to the Dictionary of Medicines and Devices site. Information on regulatory news including news from the MHRA, EMEA, and the European Commission, and medicines compendium updates is also available.
