    iThentic.com - Made For Mobile

    iThentic

iThentic is a mobile video platform that encourages users to create new and original mobile videos and upload them to the web in order to share it with other community members, who can watch it as streaming video from their phones or handhelds, or through the site. Though downloads are usually not a part of the deal, downloads are currently being offered, but for limited time only. Unlike similar sites, which allow users to watch everything that has been uploaded, iThentic.com has a board of indie-preferring editors who choose the best mobisodes (up to 3 minutes long) and sort them out into different channels (humor, autobiographic, animations, biographic, cute stuff, bizarre and other suggestive categories). Interestingly, some of the users who’ve become regulars are submitting series of videos, so that you can actually follow them as if it were a TV show. Viewing material from this site is free, though submitting is not: users actually get paid for their mobisodes based on how many views they get, as the site shares a percentage of ad revenue with its regular submitters. The idea is to encourage users to refer other users and thus exponentially increase the size of the social platform. iThentic.com really has a killer combination: social networking + mobile contents + cash are almost unbeatable. After all, almost everybody belongs to some social network, basically everybody owns a mobile phone and everyone needs cash, so the prospect of having everything in one place is always a good argument as to why this site might become a killer startup.
