Grupthink.com - Living Source Of Collective Wisdom

    Grupthink

If Yahoo Answers were to have a child with Barbelith, Grupthink would be the name of the offspring, which comes in beautiful attire, by the way. This great site has been in beta since early 2006, but that hasn’t got in the way of developing a really cool site where people join to discuss the most concrete and abstract topics in a respectful and friendly environment. While the topics are started as questions, the site is more focused on fostering exchange between users than in the answers themselves; still, in order to get some discernment of good, bad and ugly sources of contributions, users get ranked according to how helpful, funny, good quality or well spoken their answers are (topics are also sorted out into these categories and display a small icon next to the title), and have a profile where to store images, take a look at recent answers, and also create a compatibility score similar to that of Last.fm’s designed to help people meet other users with similar interests (the profile also lists buddies). Interestingly, the site allows picture posting in its discussion rooms, and private/public setting to the topics, so it is definitely a good resource for multi-location teams to discuss and coordinate. One of the things I found to be more interesting is the extensive guide for newbies, a complete conduct code which is certainly a good way to keep things peaceful and useful, just the way they are right now.
