The Central Appraisal District of Collin County is a political subdivision of the State of Texas, whose purpose is to provide uniform property appraisals according to value, to the taxing entities within Collin County. The Appraisal District is governed by a board of directors which are appointed by the taxing entities that take part in the Appraisal District. This board of directors appoints members to hear the protests filed by property owners or their agent, regarding the appraisal of their property. The Appraisal District’s main duties include placing all taxable property on the appraisal roll, appraising said property at market value, approval or denial of exemption applications, of ag-use appraisal applications, change of use determination if agricultural land that had been qualified previously, as well as notifying owners of the actions taken by the district in regard to their property.
