Wikirage.com - Keep Tabs on Hottest Wikipedia Postings

Wikirage can help you keep tabs on US pop culture through its daily posting of the top 100 edits on Wikipedia. Focusing on which posts receive the most editing attention, it is quite interesting to see which issues intrigue the most people -- some surprising, some not (ie, the top 10 posting related to Britney Spear's fifth studio album is not surprising; Houston, Texas being the No. 1 posting is). So while there are some random postings receiving attention, overall the edits match the stories in current events. You can browse by hour, day, week, and month. Each link highlights the edit in question (you are not linked directly to Wikipedia), as well as showing you the charts and graphs monitoring activity on the wiki post.

  In their own words

"This site lists the pages in Wikipedia which are receiving the most edits per unique editor over various periods of time. Popular people in the news, the latest fads, and the hottest video games can be quickly identified by monitor this social phenomenon. "

Why it might be a killer

Started and maintained by a guy who used to hate Wikipedia for its lack of verified information, he decided to turn his hate into something interesting and maybe useful. It is an interesting social study of what stories and entertainment offerings are getting the most traction and may be of value to advertisers and marketers....but mostly the info seems just for fun.

  Some questions

Do people need to monitor the edits on Wikipedia to determine what stories are capturing the most attention? As mentioned earlier, I suppose it could be useful for advertisers and marketers, but I have a feeling they already have sophisticated tools at their fingertips. I am not a big fan of such a simple design and layout, but I also see why not much more is needed. My only question is why the links don't take you to the actual wikipedia site?
