Twing.com - Community Forums Search Engine

    twing

Twing is a newly launched forums search engine. It serves to bring up the best results, each and every time. Unlike a traditional search engine, Twing specializes in pulling info from within a forum taking into account details, rather than scanning only topics, thus you’re guaranteed more relevant results. Twing has also got personalization options, e.g. email alerts. There are also quite a few filtering options, represented in the left hand sidebar. You can sort results by forum, by date, by company and media and language. You can even edit your categories and there’s word exclusion for more specific searches. There’s a directory of forums which you can browse—organized by category—and if you register you can save your preferences.

    In their own words

“Welcome to the Twing beta site! We've hit the ground running with our new online community and forum search engine. Start today and get connected! Search by post, thread or forum to find the discussions that interest you.
So who, or what, is Twing? Twing aims to be the most comprehensive and highly targeted forum search engine for real people seeking real discussions and real information in real time. And of course, the information we index - content-rich discussions in numerous forums worldwide - is provided by real people. As a result, what Twing offers that traditional search engines don't is the ability to more completely identify important information in the deep discussions enabled by the many-to-many communication format of forums.”

Why it might be a killer

Twing offers a straightforward search service. The filtering options go along way to help you find just what you’re looking for. Twing also drives more traffic to forums, bringing to light informative and rich content.

    Some questions

Twing isn’t as innovative as it could be. The personalization options could be developed further. Will it be able to compete against the rest and bring itself up a level?
