There are search engines of all sizes and denominations, and they just keep on coming along. The last one to emerge is this one, which goes by the apt name of TimeSearch – you see, it is an apt name because it lets you search the WWW through timelines and see what comes up.

Basically, the site will enable you to specify a given timeframe by keying in the corresponding year, and visualize events of note that took place right then. Moreover, refinement tags can be found underneath the “Areas” and “Themes” banners. In the first case, you will be able to set down the concrete regions that interest you, while the “Themes” tags will let you choose your topic from “Arts”, “Politics”, “Religion” and so forth.

Finally, the page also comes complete with a smooth site search that will allow you to find texts, images and multimedia contents by furnishing the respective keywords.

In their own words
“Search the Web through Timelines (and surprise yourself with what you find).”
Why it might be a killer
It is an interesting resource that entertains as well as educating.
