Sortuv.com - Look For Related Places In A Different Way

    sortuv

Traditional search processes mean that when you are looking for something on the WWW you have to input keywords like “cheap”, “hip”, “trendy” and “romantic”. That is, you execute the search by furnishing adjectives. The problem is that an adjective can (and does) have a different connotation from individual to individual. After all, what is trendy or hip to one person might turn out to be the exact opposite to anther one.

Keeping that in mind, the team behind Sortuv has created a new search mechanism that will let you carry out searches the other way around. That is, instead of providing a list of adjectives you tell Sortuv the kind of place you want the resulting one to resemble.

In practice, this approach is a bit like searching the mental picture that you have in your mind. You can input ”Find me a place like Taco Bueno in Boston” and the results will unfold before your eyes.

Come to think of it, this approach is the most logical one. It leaves subjectivity out of the picture and it produces results that bear a higher level of relevance, without having to supply endless criteria to streamline it all.

    In their own words

“Keyword-based search forces you to convert a mental image into words. And it doesn’t always work: “trendy, hip, and romantic” means something different for everyone.

Sortuv (sort of) lets you search on that mental picture. Instead of asking for an “expensive restaurant” just say what you mean: “Find me a place sortuv like Canlis in Chicago”.”

Why it might be a killer

It is so effective and it saves so much time that it makes you think why something like it was not devised before.
