Searchforvideo.com - Find the Video You Want

Searchforvideo.com is exactly what its name implies - a video search engine. The site has categorized and indexed videos from over 10,000 sources, including partnering with 100 brand name video providers like HBO, Discovery, Newsweek, BBC, etc). It is quite an impressive library of videos they have here, and I found the site easy to use and navigate. The categories were clear and the small photos of the videos were helpful (which doesn"t really make sense because I couldn"t see them that well, but graphically and visually I liked it). Overall, this site has a simple purpose and a simple mission -- index videos -- and for that I appreciate it.

  In their own words

Searchforvideo.com is a leading video search engine that indexes online video clips from over 10,000 sources. We do not host or stream online video, we index rich meta data about video clips and provide direct links to video clips around the web. Searchforvideo.com works with over 100 brand name video content providers, you can check out a partial list here. If you are interested in featuring your video content on Searchforvideo.com, you can submit your video RSS feed here. Alternatively, if you do not have a video RSS feed, you can submit information about your contact here.

Why it might be a killer

Videos are leading a revolution on the internet and in our daily lives...they are changing they way we look at ourselves, how we govern, how we sell products, how we communicate, how we laugh, etc. To have a clear, simple site dedicated to indexing videos from 10,000 sources in a format that is easy to access and search is a winner.

  Some questions

Is there any reason they do not rank the videos or allow for a Digg-like user review system? I actually like YouTube"s "how many viewers" and user ratings because there are so many potential videos to watch out there. Who are their main competitors? Are they prepared to host video one day in the future if technology demands it?
