Move over Google, Vivisimo is the new way to search. Instead of getting piles and piles of hard-to-manage and impertinent results, three Carnegie Mellon scientists created Vivisimo as a simple alternative search engine.

Vivisimo is not bogged down by information overload. It actually organizes your search results for you with the cluster feature. So search ‘Britney’ and the top 218 pages will pop first (all covering Ms. Spears, of course), on the left hand side, however, you can choose from a number of categories to help narrow your search. The cluster categories are relevant to the search topic. ‘Britney’ brings up categories like, gossip, entertainment, music videos, pictures etc. Search, let’s say, ‘earthworm’ and categories like soil, worm, dissection, and pictures appear. With Clusty, the consumer search engine, you can also narrow the search from the get-go by choosing from news, images, wikipedia, blogs, jobs etc. It’s similar to Google, but with more choices. Vivisimo is metasearch at its best.
