Search.io advertises itself as the first search engine in the world to boast a tabbed interface. This means that once you have entered your query and hit the search button the results will be displayed using different tabs.

For instance, if you look up “Obama” in the “News” category you are there and then presented with tabs such as “CNN”, “BBC”, and “MSNBC” that provide you with a tidy search experience.

On the other hand, if you look up “Richard Thompson” in the “Lyrics” category you will come across tabs like LyricsMode, Lyrics On Call and so forth.

Navigation from tab to tab is made suppler by the inclusion of keyboard shortcuts, too. You simple press “Alt” plus the relevant number in order to see what that tab holds in store for you.

The categories that you can choose from are quite expansive, and you can implement many more from the ones that were already mentioned, including “People”, “Recipes” and “Blogs”. Furthermore, categories such as “CSS Galleries” and “Fonts” are included and can be readily put to good use.
