Quick.as - Customized Search and Links Homepage

    quick

Quick.as is a site intended to be set as the users’ homepage. It has two main functions: to complete command based searches, and save the users’ most frequently visited sites as quick links. The command based search function allows users to search hundreds of search engines with command codes, which are listed in the Commands link on the site, for their desired topic. The quick links function allows users to customize their homepage so that all of that user’s most frequently visited websites are accessible immediately when the user opens his web browser. Once users register and create an account, they can edit the quick links and customize the command search to reflect their own personal preferences.

    In their own words

“Quick.as is a free, clean, uncluttered, easy-to-use, quick-loading little site designed to be set as your homepage. It does two things to help you get to where you want to be on the web quick.as-a-flash: command based search and quick links.”

Why it might be a killer

This site has several useful features that may make it a success. Users have a great deal of valuable information at instantly available. When set as a homepage, it automatically links the user to all frequently visited sites, and provides hundreds of search engines for the user to choose from. However, when a first-time user logs on, the homepage is difficult to understand. A brief tutorial link could be advantageous.

    Some questions

Aside from listing the option, how may Quick.as encourage users to set the site as their homepage? How may the interface be changed so that is easier to use? Would a tutorial help users?
