NoobSearch.com - Another Search Engine Surfaces

Releasing a new search engine today is a bit like recording a new version of “Love Me Do”. People might like the end result, but someone was there first and he did what you have done now.

And he did it way better the first time around.



Noob Search, then, is a search portal that does what one could expect from it. You have your box for inputting queries, and a drop down box will let you circumscribe your search geographically. For its part, you have the obligatory refinement labels that encapsulate the main interests of people the world over: “Image”, “Video”, “Sports”, and “News” along with others such as “Wiki”, “PDF” and “Dictionary”.

You can also set the standard language from a plethora of available ones including English, Spanish, French, German, Russian…

This portal was not assembled in a hurry, and that is clear. Some serious work has gone into it. But the fact remains that the demand for information is already covered by Google, Bing and Yahoo. I think the energy that went into this could have been better employed elsewhere. It’s a brave try, but I just don’t think it will pay off.
